Unknown Gunmen Kidnap ESUT Vice Chancellor (More Updates)
Sequel to our earlier post on the abduction of the Enugu State University Vice Chancellor more updates have emerged from Channels Television on the kidnap and gun attacks.
According to the television network Unknown gunmen on Wednesday, abducted the Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT, Professor Cyprian Onyeji, shooting his police escort.
The VC was abducted at 11.30a.m at the school gate as he was been driven into the main campus of the institution.
Some of the gunmen had reportedly been lurking around the gate in a parked rickety car, ahead of the VC’s arrival.
According to eye witness account, the gunmen were said to have blocked the gate with their car as soon as the VC’s convoy arrived.
“They jumped out and started shooting into the air and six others appeared from nowhere and attacked the convoy.”
“They shot and deflated the four tyres of the police van escorting the VC.”
A policeman in the escort van who tried to fight back, was shot while the gunmen dragged the VC’s orderly and driver out of the car, before driving off with Professor Onyeji in his official Honda car.
