Navy plans training school in Kwara
The Director, Air Operations Naval Headquarters, Commodore Bamidupe Babagbale, has said that the Nigerian Navy will establish a training school in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Abdulwahab Oba.
Quoting Babagbale, the statement said the naval headquarters had trained pilots thrice in Ilorin and was impressed with facilities at the Ilorin International Airport.
Ahmed had, while receiving the letter from his guest, described the planned initiative as a welcome development.
He said it was in consonance with the state government’s policy of Shared Prosperity of Human Capital Development and Youth Empowerment.
The policy aims at developing youth capacity through skills acquisition and vocational training.
The governor said the school, when established, would complement the state’s aviation college.
He assured the Navy that the government would provide the land and other logistics to ensure the smooth take-off of the school.
The governor said the state had upgraded facilities at the Ilorin International Airport to meet the aviation needs of the proposed training school.
