Special Adviser to the Sokoto Governor on Higher Education, Prof. Gajam Ardo, has said the state government would soon recruit about 100 teachers for its state university.
The recruitment is coming even as the government has bought over 5,000 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME, forms worth over N23 million for distribution to qualified indigenous candidates.
Ardo spoke shortly after monitoring the screening test conducted for about 3,000 candidates seeking admission into the university.
According to him, the 100 staff would be recruited from the 193 persons that applied for the position of lecturers in the university.
He explained that the 193 applicants for the posts of lecturers were indigenes with second-class upper degree in their various disciplines.
He said: “Out of this number, only 70 will be recruited for teaching appointments into the university, while 30 would be recruited for the School of Developmental Studies.”
