Kogi State: Politician Chides Jega

Winner of the January 9, 2011 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary in Kogi State, Alhaji Jibrin Isah, has queried the competence of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to draw conclusion on the political logjam in the state.

Director, Public Communication and Strategy, Jibrin Isah Campaign Organisation, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, in a statement Sunday, said the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attairu Jega, should: “Seek the correct interpretation of the Supreme Court’s verdict in a competent court of law, Professor Attahiru Jega audaciously arrogated to himself the powers of the court when, with an air of finality and impunity, ‘directed’ that Captain Idris Wada be “immediately sworn in as the governor of Kogi State.

“We are shocked that the judgment of a constitutionally recognised and well constituted authority like the Supreme Court, which was written in plain English language could be misinterpreted and flagrantly violated, ” he said.
