Speaker, Adamawa House of Assembly Resigns
The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, James Barka, has resigned.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Gibson Nathaniel (Guyuk state constituency) was nominated to succeed the former speaker.
The nomination was made by Abubakar Abdullahi (Girei) and was seconded by the former speaker.
The Deputy Speaker, Aliyu Ahmadu, was also impeached by the House with a two third majority after a vote of no confidence was passed on him.
He was subsequently replaced by Alfa Belel (Maiha).
Meanwhile, angry youths besieged the gate of the Assembly to protest against the development.
They were, however, dispersed by armed mobile policemen.
